Connecting Pennylane
Connect your Pennylane account to Order Invoicer depending on your plan (Collaborative, Essential, or Premium)
Two ways to connect Pennylane
Pennylane API access is free. However, whether you may enable the connection depends on your Pennylane plan:
- Collaborative plan: if your accountant sets the integration up for you, the connection is included at no extra cost on Pennylane's side. Your invoices sync automatically.
- Essential or Premium plan: if you want to enable and manage the connection yourself from your own interface, you need one of these plans.
Pennylane — not Order Invoicer — blocks API authorization when you try to connect a Freemium, Starter, or Basic plan yourself. In that case, hand the connection off to your accountant (see below).
Connecting Pennylane yourself
Open the invoicing step
From your connector onboarding, at the Connect your invoicing software step, choose Pennylane.
Authorize access
Click Connect my Pennylane account, sign in to Pennylane and authorize Order Invoicer. You are redirected back to your connector once the connection is established.
Handing the connection to your accountant
If you don't have an Essential or Premium plan, this is the recommended option: let your accountant connect Pennylane from their Collaborative plan, at no extra cost.
Generate the link
At the Pennylane step of onboarding, click Generate a link for my accountant, then Copy link.
Send the link
Send this link to your accountant (by email, for example). The link is specific to your connector and can be revoked by generating a new one.
Your accountant connects Pennylane
Opening the link, your accountant sees the relevant company, signs in to their own Pennylane account (Collaborative plan) and authorizes access. No Order Invoicer account is required on their side.
Once your accountant establishes the connection, your invoices sync automatically — just as if you had set it up yourself.
